PlanetHoster has acquired Digital Forest, a French hosting provider founded in 2020 and focused on eco-responsible infrastructure.

The transaction was announced on February 11, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, Simon Cardon, founder of Digital Forest, has been appointed CEO Europe at PlanetHoster.

Eco-responsible addition to PlanetHoster’s portfolio

Digital Forest specializes in:

  • eco-responsible hosting,
  • eco-design for web services,
  • reducing the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure.

The company was founded in 2020 and operates from France. Following the acquisition, it became part of PlanetHoster.

PlanetHoster was founded in Montreal in 2007 and provides web hosting, cloud solutions, and domain registration services. The company operates in Canada, France, and Switzerland, managing infrastructure, software, and network connectivity in-house.

Leadership change in Europe

With this transaction, Simon Cardon takes on the role of CEO Europe at PlanetHoster.

He will be responsible for deploying the company’s strategy across Europe and supporting its international development.In the announcement, Cardon stated that Digital Forest was founded to build a more ethical and sovereign web model, and that integration into PlanetHoster provides the scale to pursue that objective further.

No additional details were provided regarding integration timelines, organizational changes, or customer migration plans.

PlanetHoster outlined four focus areas connected to the acquisition:

  • hosting and protecting European data within Europe,
  • high performance and security standards,
  • transparency in pricing and data handling
  • reducing environmental impact through infrastructure optimization and use of renewable energy sources.

The company also stated its intention to position itself as a European cloud alternative to US hyperscalers.

The acquisition can be seen as the next part of ongoing consolidation and repositioning within European hosting, particularly around eco-responsibility and sustainability.
