HOSTAFRICA, one of Africa’s fastest-growing hosting providers, is stepping into the Tanzanian market with the acquisition of Zesha, a local web hosting and domain company. The deal, announced in Cape Town on August 4, 2025, marks HOSTAFRICA’s fifth national operation after South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.
For HOSTAFRICA, this is more than just another footprint on the map. Since its launch in 2016, the company has built a reputation for combining reliable infrastructure with local teams in each market. Tanzania now becomes part of that model, bringing customers access to a wider portfolio of services — from shared hosting and domains to VPS and cloud solutions — all backed by 99.9% uptime guarantees.
Why Tanzania Matters
Zesha, already a strong player in Tanzania, brings local market knowledge and an established customer base. HOSTAFRICA plans to integrate its technical infrastructure and scale with Zesha’s position. According to the company, this should mean faster response times, better service reliability, and an expanded digital offering for Tanzanian entrepreneurs, small businesses, and larger organizations.
“Tanzania is a thriving economy and has long been part of our growth roadmap,” said Michael Osterloh, CEO of HOSTAFRICA. “We are excited to take this step alongside the talented Zesha team. This move enables us to serve Tanzanian customers locally, delivering world-class hosting services supported by strong local expertise.”
The acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval in Tanzania, expected within the next three months. In the meantime, both companies say they are preparing a smooth transition for customers, with an emphasis on transparency and continuity of service.
Building a Pan-African Hosting Network
The deal reflects the wider shifts in Africa’s digital economy, where demand for reliable hosting, secure domains, and scalable infrastructure is rising as more businesses move online. By adding Tanzania to its network, HOSTAFRICA is positioning itself to capture that growth while reinforcing its strategy of building local-first teams in every market.
Today, HOSTAFRICA serves more than 100,000 customers across the continent. With a strong track record of customer satisfaction (4.9/5 ratings on HelloPeter and Trustpilot) and consistent service reliability, the company is betting that its formula of technical strength plus local expertise can win new ground in East Africa.
If approved, the acquisition will bring HOSTAFRICA closer to its ambition of becoming Africa’s leading locally owned and operated hosting provider.
