GoDaddy is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Cloud Platforms team based in India, working remotely. The role focuses on leading and accelerating GoDaddy’s cloud transformation journey by designing, building, and evolving scalable, secure, and observable cloud-native systems operating across thousands of AWS accounts. The Principal Software Engineer will own architectural decisions and define platform standards for data ingestion, metadata modeling, cross-account access, and service integration. Responsibilities include driving cloud governance best practices such as IAM design, networking, security guardrails, and cost optimization. The candidate will write production-quality code, lead by example, mentor engineers through code reviews and design guidance, and raise technical standards. Collaboration with global teams to lead multi-quarter initiatives from design to delivery is essential to ensure long-term platform reliability and operability.nnThe ideal candidate has 8-12+ years of professional software engineering experience with proven ownership and operation of complex production systems. They should have deep hands-on experience with AWS, including multi-account environment design, IAM roles, secure cross-account access, VPC networking, and security. Strong experience designing distributed systems at scale, cloud-native architectures such as microservices, event-driven, and serverless is required. Proficiency in backend languages such as Python (preferred), Java, Go, or Node.js is necessary, alongside strong system design, data modeling, performance, and reliability fundamentals. Experience leading technical design reviews and cross-team initiatives focusing on observability, reliability, and cost-effective solutions is also wanted.nnAdditional desirable skills include Kubernetes (EKS) or container platform experience in production, knowledge of metadata platforms, data pipelines, or observability systems, application of AI or automation to developer productivity or operational workflows, and familiarity with AWS Config, CloudWatch, EventBridge, Kafka, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.
