Schedule: Monday to Friday, 16h to midnight.

About the role:

The Level 1 data center technician is responsible for phone and email communications with customers as well as data center operation and maintenance. They follow up on each request until completion and initiate escalations as needed. They monitor the environmental monitoring system and report any outage or alarm to the appropriate person.

Your daily tasks:

  • Respond to customer requests.
  • Execute customer support requests.
  • Document all interventions and keep ticketing system updated.
  • Maintain optimal communication with customer from start to ticket closure.
  • Register customers and visitors.
  • Monitor security and environmental surveillance systems.
  • Apply security procedures and policies.
  • Verify all equipment is in good working order (CRAC, CRAH, UPS, generators and other data center equipment).
  • Take readings on electrical and cooling equipment and complete appropriate reports.
  • Install copper and fiber cabling and patch panels.
  • Maintain detailed site documentation on cross-connects and customer cabling.
  • Follow industry best practices for cabling and documentation. Comply with TIA-942 and BICSI standards.
  • Keep site clean.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in computer science or telecommunications in progress (preferable).
  • Technical and mechanical knowledge of HVAC and electrical equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems (servers and network equipment).
  • MS Office knowledge.
  • Autonomous with good team spirit.
  • English required for frequent communication with employees, customers and suppliers outside Quebec.
  • Comfortable working in 24/7 environment.
