Your role at Hostinger

We’re looking for aBackend Developerto join our Email team – the engineers behind one of the most enduring and underrated technologies in computing.

Email has powered communication for 50 years and it’s not going anywhere. Whatischanging is the scale: our systems support10 million+ mailboxesand handle massive request volumes every second. That’s not a standard CRUD problem – it’s distributed systems engineering with real consequences.

You’ll design and maintain the APIs and backend services that keep those mailboxes running, working closely with the front-end team and other stakeholders to deliver a seamless experience.

Your day-to-day

  • Architect, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs inPHP(with room to work inGoas you grow here)

  • Define and optimize APIs for performance, scalability, and security – at 10M+ mailbox scale

  • Own the data layer: schema design, query optimization, and ORM usage

  • Integrate third-party services and keep documentation sharp

  • Monitor and debug production issues before they become customer problems

  • Write tested, readable code that moves the needle on real business metrics

  • Raise the bar in code review and technical discussions with your teammates

Compensation

Gross salary from 5600 – 7600 EUR/month. Specific compensation is offered based on work experience, competence and compliance with other job requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong PHP experience and solid command of OOP principles and design patterns
  • Comfortable writing unit and integration tests as part of your normal workflow
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SQL, and at least one ORM
  • Familiarity with message queuing (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar)
  • Experience with Docker and containerized environments
  • Understanding of microservice architecture
