Description of Role

The program manager is responsible for managing large complex programs that have some or all of the following characteristics

  • Initiatives or features that span platforms, product groups, products or services
  • Complex business or customer interfaces
  • Multiple internal and/or external dependencies
  • Cross brand, platform or product integrations

Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Coordinates strategy, roadmap & release planning, dependency mapping, backlog management and execution of initiatives or features that span platforms, product groups, products, services, IT, legal, compliance, etc.
  • Manages handoffs or transitions of information and/or deliverables
  • Identifies and captures impediments, raises them with leaders to resolve them
  • Builds and continually improves information radiators to ensure proper visibility and transparency
  • Manages or facilitates program or platform backlog, metrics and flow of work

Facilitation

  • Defines purpose and outcomes, designs meeting flow for complex problems or to achieve objectives
  • Facilitates planned and/or collaborative meetings or workshops for distributed teams or diverse groups
  • Ensures post meeting or workshop activities are followed through on

Communications

  • Utilizes appropriate & effective communication
  • Maintains accurate & transparent information to stakeholders and interested parties

Creative Problem Solving

  • Facilitates brainstorming sessions to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop potential solutions at product and platform level
  • Promotes a positive team environment that is diverse and inclusive
  • Assertive but empathetic with good emotional intelligence
  • Facilitates development of hypothesis, experiments and measurements for initiatives or features
