WordPress security company Wordfence will raise the prices of its Premium, Care and Response plans on December 3, the second increase in two years. The most expensive of the three, Response, goes to $1,900 a year, double the $950 it cost until December 2024. Premium, the cheapest, goes from $149 to $199, about twice the $99 it cost until December 2022.

The company, whose plugin has more than 5 million active installations, announced the change a month ahead and lets customers renew early at current prices until then.

Care and Response Rise Fastest

This time Premium rises about 34%, Care about 51% and Response 52%. Prices are per license, per year:

PlanUntil December 2024CurrentFrom December 3, 2026Two-year change
Premium$119$149$199+67%
Care$490$590$890+82%
Response$950$1,250$1,900+100%

With this increase, Premium will have risen in December of 2022, 2024 and 2026, by $20, $30 and $50. Customers on legacy Premium pricing will see their existing rates rise by 40%, compared with increases of 25.21% in 2024 and 20.2% in 2022.

Volume discounts for Premium continue, from 10% at two to four licenses to 25% at 15 or more. With the 25% discount, a host or agency managing 100 separately licensed WordPress installations would pay $14,925 a year instead of $11,175, or $3,750 more.

What the Three Plans Buy

Premium’s features include real-time firewall rules and malware signatures, which free users receive 30 days later. For the update-window flaw fixed in WordPress 7.1.4, paying customers received the firewall rule on October 28, and free users are due to receive it on November 27. The price announcement does not mention the free version.

Care includes everything in Premium and adds setup and maintenance by Wordfence’s team, hands-on support during business hours and incident response. Response, aimed at mission-critical sites, adds a standby incident team, 24/7 monitoring and a one-hour response time.

Wordfence Points to AI-Built Exploits

Wordfence attributes the increase to a changed threat landscape. According to the announcement, attackers can now use open-weight models such as GLM 5.3 or DeepSeek 4.1 Flash to develop and deploy highly complex exploits quickly and at massive scale. The company lists its own spending in response, including private cyber access programs with OpenAI and Anthropic and in-house tools named Argus, PRISM and Eclipse.

The 2024 announcement pointed to two years without a rise in a “relatively high inflation environment.” The 2022 one cited more than six years without an increase and a team that had more than doubled.

Renewing Before December 3 Keeps the Current Price

Existing licenses can be renewed up to one year before they expire, and an early renewal extends the expiry date by one year. At list prices, that saves $50 on Premium, $300 on Care and $650 on Response for the renewed year. New licenses bought before December 3 also get the current price.

Black Friday falls on November 27 this year. In November 2024, co-founder Mark Maunder noted in a comment under that year’s announcement that Wordfence “has historically never done a Black Friday sale,” and the 2026 announcement does not mention one.
