GoDaddy’s Cloud Platforms team is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to help lead and accelerate our cloud transformation journey. This is a unique opportunity to shape the cloud platform that underpins GoDaddy’s core services and empowers developers across the company. As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll architect and build platform technologies that thousands of GoDaddy engineers rely on daily to support millions of small businesses around the world. You will provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across multiple domains, establishing best practices for cloud-native development on AWS. You will design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native systems utilizing modern technologies such as microservices, containers, serverless, and distributed architectures. Drive innovation by integrating AI tools and new AWS services, and consistently promote the adoption of emerging technologies and practices. Ensure code quality, operational excellence, and system reliability through code reviews, monitoring, testing, and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. Mentor engineers at all levels, foster cross-team collaboration, and lead initiatives to improve processes, productivity, and engineering direction. Required experience includes 6+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems, proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Go, Node.js), 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and microservices architecture, and strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, system design, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines. Preferred qualifications include experience with Kubernetes and Docker, Agile development, DevOps practices, AI/ML integration in developer tools, knowledge of LLMs and AI-enhanced development workflows, and experience designing enterprise-grade cloud-native architectures.
