At GoDaddy, the Senior Software Development Engineer – Backend role focuses on designing and building key components of a PaaS platform for running WordPress in a containerized, auto-scaling environment. The position is part of the Control Plane horizontal team working on Managed WooCommerce Stores, Managed WordPress, and Pagely products. The team is small but impactful, consisting of 12 engineers and 1 manager, developing a groundbreaking multi-tenant WordPress hosting platform. Responsibilities include collaborating with multiple teams including SREs, product managers, and architects to deliver high-quality solutions, participating in Scrum ceremonies, and contributing to high-visibility projects such as migrating one million applications and improving platform provisioning time, stability, and scalability. Candidates should have 5+ years in software engineering focusing on large-scale distributed applications or solutions with proficiency in Go and PHP, 3+ years cloud experience preferably with AWS, and experience with Docker, CDK, CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions and Jenkins. Knowledge in writing tests, automation, and familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases is essential. Additional desirable skills include container orchestration (Nomad/Kubernetes), WordPress and AWS service experience, and agile team participation.
